Description:
This 40-hour, 4-day course is designed for CSIs, detectives, and law enforcement personnel who need real documentation skills for real cases. Built on a principles-based, spiral curriculum with maximum hands-on time and minimum death by PowerPoint. Canon DSLR from the round up through advanced techniques. Students develop intuitive camera control, then apply it across impression evidence, latent prints, bloodstain documentation, injuries, ALS, cross-polarization, laser trajectories, and a full night shoot. Every topic gets hands-on contact before you move to the next one.
Idaho POST certified. Built and taught by a working investigator with extensive forensic photography experience. Walk away with skills you can use on your next call.
The course will cover these topics, and more:
- Camera fundamentals and exposure control (DSLR + iPhone)
- Lighting, flash, and low light scene documentation
- Evidence photography: impressions, prints, injuries, bloodstain
- Cross-polarization and laser trajectories
- Alternate light source documentation
- Night shoot: low light, timed exposure, painting with light
- Chain of custody, metadata, and courtroom basics
