The Below 100® program, Is a nationwide Initiative that aims to reduce line-of–duty deaths to below 100. 1974 saw an all-time high for officer deaths; 285 officers were killed in the line of duty. Innovations In training, emergency medicine and vehicles, as well as the development of ballistic armor, has contributed to bring this number down since then. Over the last decade about 150 officers are killed in the line of duty each year. This training will demonstrate how you can help bring that number below 100. Below 100® has Identified five core tenets, all under the officer’ s control, by which officer safety can be Improved-areas where we can make a difference. Below 100® isn’t about statistics. It’ s about each and every officer, trainer and supervisor taking individual and collective responsibility for the decisions and actions that contribute to creating a culture of safety.
