Description:
This two-day course will expose Illicit and Abused drugs, emerging drugs, drugs which are constantly modified to stay under the radar of the law, and the constant counterfeiting of prescription drugs killing Americans everyday across this country. Officers will learn how to identify and understand the individual hazards that each substance presents from the traffic stop, calls for service, working undercover, or processing a drug-related search warrant. Officers will learn how each substance fits into the five classes under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) from narcotics, depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens and anabolic steroids. Each officer will build drug paraphernalia props during the course to further their knowledge of how paraphernalia is used. This course is ideal for: all Police Officers, Detectives, Sheriff’s Deputies, Corrections Officers, Corrections Investigators, Federal Agents, SIU Investigators, and other Law Enforcement and Public Safety Personnel. This course will cover the following substances:
• Fentanyl and other Synthetic opioids, ISO (Isotonitizine)
• Counterfeit Prescription Drugs, Research Chemicals
• Phenibut, Etizolam, and Prescription Drugs of Abuse
• Flakka and Other Cathinones
• Marijuana Variations (BHO, edibles, vapes, paraphernalia)
• Heroin …Hillbilly Heroin …Heroin Types
• LSD: Lysergic acid diethylamide “acid”
• Methamphetamine (conversion labs, paraphernalia)
• Visual recognition of each controlled substance
• The common dosage unit for each substance
• Routes of ingestion for each substance
• Packaging and paraphernalia
• Determining dealer vs user in drug cases
• Substances commonly found in overdose deaths
• Visual signs of impairment
