Description:
With the legalization of Recreational Cannabis in many states and the long-standing issue of Medical Cannabis, there is an expectation of a marked increase in Cannabis related DUI’s, traffic collisions and other related offenses. The predictions for the future are that Cannabis use will continue to increase and traffic safety will decrease significantly.
In this course you will learn the life cycle of the Cannabis plant, a basic understanding of cultivation methods, useable forms of Cannabis, associated paraphernalia and necessary terminology. Specific areas to be covered are:
-Long Term and Short-Term Effects of Cannabis
-Identifying Chronic Users
-THC vs. CBD
-Understanding the difference between Recreational and Medical Cannabis
-Cannabis DUI specific pre-FST questioning
-Use and understanding of SFST’s to identify Cannabis Impairment
-Report Writing and Courtroom Issues
-Search and Seizure and other legal issues
-Cannabis Metabolism in the Human Body
-The “Per Se Limit” confusion
-Scientific Studies relating to Cannabis and Cannabis DUI
-Non-DUI related LE topics commonly associated with Cannabis Impairment/Chronic Use
At the conclusion of the class you will have a better understanding of how Cannabis effects the Human Body and have the necessary tools to evaluate someone you suspect of being under the influence of Cannabis. As well as be able to present a prosecutable case and testify to in court.
