The purpose of this lesson is to equip law enforcement supervisors with leadership strategies to effectively manage personnel safety, decision-making, and tactical coordination during active
attacker incidents, with the goal of saving as many lives as possible.

Identify worst possible outcomes of an active attacker event using inverted thinking and the law enforcement responses that aid in preventing those outcomes.

Review commonalities of active attacker events, including location, victims, and weapons.

Identify incident priorities of initial responding officers and supervisors during an active attacker event and how they are accomplished through an integrated response.

Identify key functions within the National Incident Management System Incident Command System using the Active Shooter Incident Management Checklist.

Analyze responses to active attacker events through case studies and evaluate how supervisory decisions affected positive and negative outcomes.
