This course provides students with an in-depth, hands-on introduction to the Remington 870 shotgun. Participants will gain practical knowledge and skills related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the platform.
Instructional Topics Include:
Basic operation and nomenclature
Design and function of the Remington 870 shotgun
Common field strip procedures leading to detailed disassembly
Cleaning and maintenance practices
Troubleshooting malfunctions and diagnostics
Advanced repairs, including:
Ejector replacement
Hammer and spring replacement
Repair documentation for the department armorer
Student Requirements:
Each student must bring a Remington 870 shotgun ONLY to class
Students may bring their own tools if desired
If unable to bring an 870 shotgun, students must contact the instructor prior to class
