Description:
This 24-hour course is designed to help new or experienced background investigators in complying with POST Training Mandates and Regulations, state and local laws, and best practices in the background investigation process. It covers the essential legal foundations, liability concerns, and best practices for interviewing and document review, emphasizing practical, hands-on approaches to ensure thorough investigations.
KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Understanding the legal aspects of the investigation process.
- Understanding the role of the background investigator.
- Exploring mandatory areas of investigation required by POST.
- Identifying and using information sources effectively.
- Mastering pre-employment interviewing techniques and best practices.
- Understanding social media and the applicant.
- Properly assembling the background package.
- Understanding POST audits and the decertification process.
COURSE FORMAT:
This interactive course combines instruction with practical exercises, including POST form review, interview role-playing, and case studies, and preparing participants for real-world investigations.
