Course Description:

This course will provide the basic Telecommunicator with the specialized skills, knowledge, and abilities to succeed in a Tactical Dispatcher position.

Topics include:

  • Role of the 911 Telecommunicator as a Tactical Dispatcher
  • Establishing trust and rapport with a crisis caller
  • Using active listening techniques
  • Dealing with Barricaded Subjects, Hostage Takers, and Active Shooters
  • Incident/unified Command System procedures, forms, protocols
  • Working with the incident commander
  • Tactical operaions in the PSAP or at a command post
  • Critical Incident protocols
  • Technology used in communications interoperability
  • Active Shooter protocols and Agency procedures
