This course will be a two part course : Human Trafficking Interdiction and Human Trafficking Proactive Operations 

Human Trafficking Interdiction
This class is designed for patrol officers and will equip them with skills to interdict suspects and victims involved in human trafficking.  The student will understand the dynamics, the terminology and indicators of human trafficking and how to interact with both the suspect and the victim.  The student will also be able to gather evidence from different sources to include electronics, to assist in providing advocacy for any possible victims and to move forward with a possible criminal case against the trafficker.

Human Trafficking Proactive Operations
This course allows the students to understand, why proactive operations can be so successful in battling human trafficking and how to conduct the various types of operations.  The course will cover the development of an operational plan, obstacles of operations, officer safety issues, choosing a location, best practices for interactions with victims and suspects and the various types of operations to include, hotel/motel, casinos, bus depot/train station, truck stop, illicit massage businesses, “track”/”blade”, travelers, sex offender operations, counter demand operationsProactive human trafficking operations are not only a deterrent but allow the agency and officers the opportunity to identify and rescue human trafficking victims and arrest traffickers.  These operations can be complex, confusing and if not properly carried out can create officer safety issues and result in additional harm to victims.  Having the proper training on these types of operations is critical.

INTERDICTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN is designed to make patrol officers and investigators aware of the variety of resources available to assist them in establishing the status of a child who may be missing, exploited, or at risk of exploitation and what courses of action are immediately available.

Be able to establish the status of a child who may be abducted or endangered.

Know resources available to them and courses of action to take when encountering an endangered child.

Be able to identify research supported indicators of an endangered child and a high risk threat to children.

Know the type of questions that need to be asked for a victim centered approach.

Have a basic understanding of behavioral patterns of both suspects and victims.

Know how to articulate their findings that are supported through research.

R4 Human Trafficking- Pocatello FREE TRAINING CLASS

Course Description:

Instructed by anti-trafficking experts with decades of experience in gang, narcotics and organized crime investigations, multi-agency task force leadership and domestic and international operations.  This course provides frontline officers, first responders, victim advocates, investigators and prosecutors hands-on training in both sex and labor trafficking operations. Topics include, victim profiles and recruitment and control, victim identification and a victim-centered approach to investigations, gangs, organized crime and human trafficking, evidence collection, victim challenges and interviewing techniques, proactive case development, undercover and field operations, prosecution, detailed case studies, and how technology and trafficking intersect both in the commission of and combating the crime. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to identify and respond successfully to crimes of human trafficking, conduct effective investigations, access, share and preserve physical and digital evidence, legally conduct undercover operations, prepare for prosecution, and work efficiently with other agencies and the community to diminish and deter the crime of human trafficking.
