Course Description:
This course will provide the basic Telecommunicator with the specialized skills, knowledge, and abilities to succeed in a Tactical Dispatcher position.
Topics include:
- Role of the 911 Telecommunicator as a Tactical Dispatcher
- Establishing trust and rapport with a crisis caller
- Using active listening techniques
- Dealing with Barricaded Subjects, Hostage Takers, and Active Shooters
- Incident/unified Command System procedures, forms, protocols
- Working with the incident commander
- Tactical operaions in the PSAP or at a command post
- Critical Incident protocols
- Technology used in communications interoperability
- Active Shooter protocols and Agency procedures
