R4 Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Basic Academy- Idaho Falls FREE TRAINING

Course Number: R4236

Course Description:

The Crisis Intervention Team academy is a 40-hour training program for law enforcement officers and first responders that includes basic information about mental illnesses, the local mental health system, crisis de-escalation, local resources, and local laws. Officers learn first-hand from consumers and their families and are taught verbal de-escalation skills which they are able to practice by participating in educational role-playing.

Law enforcement officers and first responders are often called upon to intervene when individuals

with mental illnesses are in crisis. The CIT academy provides education around how to work more
