Course Number: R4805

Course Description:

Who Should Attend?

This sixteen (16) hours block of training is for professionals who have been recently promoted or want to be in a leadership role in their profession: Senior officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains, SROs, FTOs, SWAT, K9, officers on leadership track, probation, parole, and correction professionals

Course Description:

In a recent study by the Society of Human Research Management (SHRM), they discovered that individuals who were recently promoted to a leadership role faced three primary challenges. First, the newly appointed leader found it difficult to find his or her leader’s mindset. Second, new leaders often found it difficult to lead individuals they once worked side-by-side with. Finally, new leaders found it difficult to identify and bridge their own skill gaps.

“Developing Effective Leaders” will address these challenges. This is an informative training that was designed to be beneficial to those law enforcement professionals who are new to their leadership role and a refresher for those professionals who are veteran leaders. This training was designed to be the foundational building blocks for professionals who want to develop into effective and ethical leaders. The training will cover five primary modules: Leadership versus Management, Leadership, Power and Leadership, Effective Leaders, and Leadership Styles.
