DESCRIPTION:Course Number: R1  203A \n  \nDescription: \nThe Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is offering a free collision investigation course to local law enforcement personnel who specialize in traffic related activities. The course is geared toward establishing a primary base of knowledge toward the more advanced dynamics of collision and traffic related law enforcement investigation activity. The course will successfully set up student personnel to progress through the battery of collision investigation curriculums offered nationwide with the ultimate goal of Accident Reconstructionist and beyond. \nUpon successful completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize and collect at-scene accident evidence such as tire marks\, vehicle damage\, roadway condition and vehicle and driver condition\nIntroduction to UAS (drone) photography utilized during collision investigations\nApplication of investigator level collision scene photography\nLearn and apply basic mathematical formulas to determine speed of vehicles using evidence collected at collision scenes\nUnderstand the most effective interviewing techniques for drivers\, occupants and witnesses\nPrepare and be able to present collision scene diagrams using evidence collected at collision scenes\nOrganize and prepare for Court use the evidence collected from the accident scene\nIntroduction to using crash data retrieval (CDR or ACM “the black box”) data in corroboration with scene evidence\nIdaho P.O.S.T. certified course\n\nSupplies Provided: \n\nAll needed supplies will be provided by the KCSO for in class use.\n\nPrerequisite: \n\nCurrently employed as a law enforcement officer\n\nDress Code & Identification: \n\nUniforms\, agency logo clothing or business casual attire is appropriate for classroom wear\n\n  \n  \nDates: February 22 – 26\, 2021 \nTime: 0800-1600 \nCredit Hours: 35 \nLocation: \nOEM Building \n1662 W.
