DESCRIPTION:Course Number: R1  144 \n  \nDescription: . COURSE INTRODUCTION A subculture exists in every community in North America\, whose followers believe in bizarre\, complex antigovernment sentiments. This movement has been growing at a fast pace since the late 1950’s and members do not think government has any business inside their lives. As more law enforcement officers encounter Sovereign Citizens\, the prospect of violence and threats from this group remains the number one officer safety threat around the country. This 8-hour officer safety course is designed to educate and empower attendees with information to help them recognize\, prepare for and respond to the sovereignty movement and to protect themselves during interactions. It emphasizes the importance of heightened awareness about the group\, its ideology and tactics in real world scenarios related to workplace and community interactions. II. PROGRAM STRUCTURE Students will be provided with the materials\, theories\, educational foundation\, and a development plan which will allow them to better succeed in personal/professional endeavors. Students will be expected to engage in interactive discussions and practical exercises as a part of this course. III. PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS Theoretical casework and practical exercises are designed to help students absorb what they learn. There are brief practical exercises developed to test attendees on their critical thinking and absorption of the course material.
