Course Description:
This course is presented by the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation. This is a 16-hour course that will cover case studies of successful cases in Montana, best practices when utilizing social media, potential legal defenses for these types of investigations, court rulings, and an overview of how these investigations can be initiated and executed by trained professionals.
Students will also learn the various types of social media platforms utilized by narcotics traffickers, how to identify potential suspects and engage in online communication, and recommendations on how to establish undercover social media accounts.
Attendees recommended for this training include current trained narcotic investigators only. This course is not recommended for individuals currently assigned to patrol operations within their perspective agencies.
