R4 Ahead of the Curve- Identify and Prevent School Shootings- Idaho Falls

Course Description:

The Region 7 Behavioral Health Board, Children’s Mental Health Subcommittee, and Eastern Idaho Public Health, in close partnership with Drift Net Inc., have combined efforts to host a proactive training on how to leverage Idahoan’s tenacity for school safety by discussing “best-practice” prevention and preparedness strategies for safe learning environments. Dr. Peter Langman, a leading expert in the psychology of students, along with our team of subject matter experts, aims to provide an evidence-based presentation to teach school staff to identify warning signs and prevent threats through effective threat assessing and management. This training will also instill in school faculty practical strategies for thinking critically during an incident. Not only will attendees obtain this proactive information, but our experts will also teach how to best implement this information into the daily operations of schools in Eastern Idaho and how to tailor these strategies to the unique needs of a schools community. This event will be made available for all of Region 5 and 6 Education districts, schools public and private, and from grades Kindergarten through High School; as well as education institutions of higher learning.
