- Background information on the National Firearms Act (NFA)
- The NFA process and common terms
- Categories of Firearms subject to the NFA
- Acquiring of NFA guns by agencies
- Disposing of NFA guns by agencies
- Possession and use of NFA guns by agencies
- Special circumstances—acquisition and use of personal NFA guns by officers
- Personal registration vs. Agency registration
- Post-86 machine gun special rules
- Agency best practices to ensure full and accurate accountability of all NFA items
- Case law examples of local/state officials federally prosecuted for NFA violations
- Relevant case law
***The ATF Boise Field Office has indicated that they intend to send an ATF Criminal Investigator and an Industry Operations Investigator to attend and answer questions or provide input.
***The course is open to all Peace Officers, Coroners, Prosecutors, Attorneys General, City Attorneys. Agency heads and Chief Deputies / Deputy Chiefs are strongly encouraged to attend.
