Description: Executive Leadership and Development for Idaho Chiefs and Sheriffs – June Session
The College of Innovation and Design, and the Dept. of Criminal Justice at Boise State University is pleased to open enrollment for the first session of Executive Leadership and Development for Idaho Chiefs and Sheriffs. The session will be held on the campus of Boise State University on June 06 to 10, 2022 and is funded with support from Boise State University.
The session brings a mix of local and national presenters, and subject matter experts including Matthew Gamette (ISPFS), Terry Derden, and Brad Johnson, among others. National experts Profs. Joseph Schafer, Frances Abderhalden, and Patrick Brady will deliver sessions on suicide prevention, stress/burnout/wellbeing, and leadership, rounding out the session training with presenters on community relations and social media, relations with local government, and recruiting and retention strategies. It’s a strong lineup of engaging, knowledgeable presenters and facilitators.

Introduction to POST and the POST Academy: Overview, Resources and the Office of Professional Responsibility
Legal Updates for Sheriffs and Chiefs
Media and Social Media Use and Best Practices
Maintaining Relations with Local Government
Realigning Resiliency: Suicide Prevention and Increasing Mental Well-being
Well-being for chiefs, sheriffs: Stress, burnout, job satisfaction, and family support
Leadership in LE Agencies.
The topics and presenters/facilitators have been identified with input from ISA, ICOPA, and POST. The session brings a mix of local experts and facilitators from Idaho, along with national experts in LE leadership and evidence based policing in small and medium-sized agencies.
