DESCRIPTION:Course Number: R1  236 \nDescription:   For the student to understand the importance and need of a Peer Support teams in their perspective agencies for not only critical incidents but preventative measures for Officers who are struggling with the cumulative trauma exposure and maladaptive coping mechanisms.  The student will also learn a basic understanding of trauma\, PSTD\, hypervigilance\, depression\, anger\, anxiety\, addiction\, sleep deprivation and organizational stress.  These are some of the common ailments that affect 1st responders\, and the course will cover strategies and resources to overcome these to promote physical and mental wellness for the 1st responder and to reduce the risk of suicide.    \nDates:    May 20th\, 2021 \nTime: 0800-1700 \nCredit Hours: 8 \nLocation: \nKCSO SAR Bldg\n10865 N.
