R1 Drug Interdiction through Identifying Secret Compartments in Vehicles – Post Falls

| This course provides information and skills to identify common vehicle concealment methods used across the US by drug cartels, high-level drug traffickers, mid-level drug traffickers, and street-level suppliers and drug dealers. These concealments, commonly called traps, hides, or secret compartments, are used to transport bulk currency, illegal narcotics, and firearms. The course provides an insight into the transporters mindset and the techniques used to secure illicit contraband. The emphasis of this course will be on physical and structural vehicle indicators of secret compartments, and the behavior (verbal, non-verbal cues) exhibited by drug traffickers. Students will be instructed how to conduct a visual pat-down and effective roadside interview. The vehicle concealed compartment indicators portion of this course exposes and illustrates the telltale signs of an aftermarket manufactured compartment and the items used to conceal its existence. This portion details the use of electronically controlled and manually operated concealed compartments as well as the use of natural structural voids in vehicles. The students will also be afforded the opportunity to examine, handle and manipulate dozens of concealment items. The course is presented with the use of lectures, video presentation and hands-on inspection of actual concealed compartments. Who Should Attend: This course has been developed to assist Patrol officers, narcotics, firearm & gang units, crime teams, criminal investigators / detectives conducting criminal suppression, interdiction, and vehicle searches. |
